Based in Berlin, Enthusiastic Encounters provides Public Relations, Fundraising, Management and Counselling services as an independent consultancy for contemporary dance and performance.

In addition to professional collaborations directly with artists, E|E contributes its cultural management expertise to programs and festivals.

Moreover, E|E aims at the facilitation of professional exchange within the independent dance and theatre community through various activities like workshops, talks, research and online publication. E|E reaches out to connect with a multiprofessional network of partners throughout Europe in order to foster the creation and promotion of contemporary dance and performance.

Besides the presentation of the collaborating artists and organiziations, the website here displays E|E’s own initiatives as well as some sources of inspiration – all in all representing the enthusiastic encounters that nourish movers & shakers.

In 2007, Doreen Markert became fascinated with the world of contemporary dance and choreography. Having come from a background in psychology and business communication, she found inspiration in the various forms of expressions beyond verbalization, the diverse views onto and through the body. The difficult working conditions, the dedication of choreographers and dancers to their own profession and their existence in a niche forming an outstanding self-conception all made lasting impressions – sparking Doreen to attend countless rehearsals and performances, nourishing conversations with artists as well as intensive self directed research into the world of contemporary dance.

In due time, this obsession has fueled Doreen’s career evolution from training educators in the tools of social media, to harnessing them herself to further her passion. After six years as project manager at the Center for Digital Media and Education at the University of Potsdam, Doreen kick-started her freelance career as cultural manager for performing arts. In October 2010, she launched her own business Enthusiastic Encounters.
Wohoo – exciting!
